Auction of 2 Framed Springbok Rugby Jerseys Autographed by 36 Springbok Captains to benefit PatchSA

On receiving a donation of the official Springbok jerseys from the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the idea was conceived to have two of the jerseys signed exclusively by Springbok captains with the objective of creating two unique and sought after memorabilia for philanthropic auction. And so, an 8-year long journey began, albeit with a two year hiatus during the COVID pandemic, with the first signature being obtained in Pretoria, South Africa in August 2016, and a full house of 36 signatures being achieved in London, England in August 2024 – the 36 signatures represent all 34 Springbok captains currently alive, as well as two who are sadly no longer with us, spanning Springbok captain appointments from 1960 to 2024.

Past Springbok Rugby captain, Tommy Bedford, who captained the team in August 1069 and is now resident in the UK, adds the final signature to the two Springbok Rugby jerseys

The two framed autographed Springbok jerseys are being auctioned as two separate auction lots on the Palliative Care for Children South Africa (PatchSA) website. The auction site can be accessed directly via https://patchsa.org/auction/ or via the prominent link on the homepage of the website. The auction opens on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 at 12h00 SAST, and closes on Sunday, 25 May 2025 at 18h00 SAST.

The proceeds of the auction will support the work of PatchSA, of which the ultimate beneficiaries will be the many thousands of children in South Africa afflicted with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses.
