Join us for a webinar on strengthening capacity in children’s palliative care

We are thrilled to be collaborating with Global Partners in Care (GPIC) to offer an opportunity for individuals and palliative care organisations to deepen their learning in children’s palliative care (CPC) and build organisational capacity to better meet the CPC needs in their communities.

To learn more, all PatchSA friends and members are invited to join a 90 minute webinar on Tuesday 19 July 2022 starting at 14:30 and ending at 16:00. The webinar will be chaired by Lacey Ahern from Global Partners in Care.

Webinar programme

The 90-minute programme will include the following:

  1. Welcome and Introductions
    Lacey Ahern, Program Director at Global Partners in Care, will introduce the organisations and speakers.
  2. Children’s Palliative Care – what’s the difference?
    Tracy Rawlins, Education and Training Manager at PatchSA, will speak on the more significant differences between adult and children’s palliative care (CPC), as well as the need for and present provision of CPC in South Africa.
  3. The story of Sunflower Children’s Hospice – developing a CPC programme using available resources
    Joan Marston, founder of Sunflower Children’s Hospice and renowned global palliative care advocate, will speak on her personal experience of making use of local resources to develop a comprehensive model of children’s palliative care in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
  4. PatchSA and available resources
    Sue Boucher, Programme & Communications Manager at PatchSA, will speak about the work of the organisation, available education opportunities and CPC capacity building activities planned for the future.
  5. Discussion / Questions & Answers
    An opportunity to ask questions of the speakers and organisers and provide any relevant feedback.
