Children’s Palliative Care Service Provider Survey: Mapping Services in SA
We need your help and input to identify and map children’s palliative care service providers and services in South Africa, so that we can help families access the necessary support they need.
According to a recent UNICEF/ICPCN research report, an estimated 801 155 children needed paediatric palliative care in South Africa in 2012, and of them 304 441 needed specialised palliative care. Only 14 501 children received any palliative care, which equates to less than 6%.
An accurate mapping of services currently being provided will highlight the level of service provision in South Africa and where the existing gaps. We plan to use this information to lobby decision makers to improve access to quality palliative care services for all affected children across South Africa.
Participating in our survey is also an opportunity for you to profile your organisation and the work you do. We therefore request that any organisation or individual who provides any service related to any aspect of children’s palliative care, participate in this survey.
